OGL

OGL is a vehicle for taking oil and gas technical, commercial and management skills and re-deploying them in a variety of roles and sectors

Projects

S-Cube  Leading the Industry in Seismic Processing

S-Cube, a London Imperial spin-out, has created a step change in 3D seismic imaging by developing industry leading algorithms for seismic data processing resulting in better, faster, cheaper high quality imagery of the sub-surface which is attracting the attention of the O&G super-majors and CCUS sectors.

S-Cube’s XWI sophisticated algorithm software applies Full Waveform Inversion to raw 3D data to create accurate sub-surface imagery for interpretation.

  • No human bias with no manual intervention
  • Seeing 500m – 1km deeper than others
  • With better sub-surface  image definition
  • Can see in, around & below salt
  • Works onshore as well as offshore
  • Reduced processing time from 6 months to <6 weeks

OGL Geothermal  Clean, reliable heat and power

OGL Geothermal, combines a number of O&G skills to develop 24/7 base load power and heat for communities where there is a need for reliability. Opportunities have been progressed in Germany, Jordan and Croatia.

Many oil and gas skills are highly transferable from drilling, geology, geophysics, project management and several other areas. With links to S-Cube we are able to image the sub-surface using seismic better than any other company and identify key rock properties.

Epex World  Better Decision Making in a Complex Energy World

Developing team-working and decision making skills in complex environments using a sophisticated business simulation.

EPEX Training has taken over 3,000 managers since 2006 though the EPEX World training programme enabling young managers to navigate the energy transition in a highly realistic business simulation environment. Feedback is consistently excellent with participants returning to their jobs more confident in their decision making.

The course is now a mainstay commercial and management course for BP.

CO2Co  Growing Algae to Capture Atmospheric CO2

CO2CO has developed IP to grow algae at scale to capture CO2 at scale. Algae grows 400 times faster than trees and as such is potentially a solution for CO2 abatement.

The resulting products are either bio-bitumen used in road construction or bio-char which can be used as a fertiliser. So far no-one has found a route to net-zero road construction;  CO2Co could be the solution.

Smart Seismic AI  Leveraging Large Seismic Models for Smarter Oil and Gas Production

Smart Seismic will engage with operators on a success fee basis on suitable projects that could create major operating efficiencies such as reduced well failures, new horizon identification, potential step out locations and better secondary recovery performance. The process under development uses AI in seismic processing, interpretation and integration of regional data to establish new or missed opportunities.

ISS Aerospace  Highly Functional Autonomous Drones

Established in 2015 ISS Aerospace builds and operates autonomous data gathering drones for wide area operations across many sectors.

Methane often escapes facilities and infrastructure such as refineries and pipelines and is many times more onerous than CO2 in terms of atmospheric warming. These fugitive emissions can be identified.

ISS has the ability to accurately fly beyond line of sight on a pre-set course with satellite data relay helps in survey planning.

Airponix  Growing food from fog

Airponix is a sustainable agricultural production system providing fresh, high-quality abundant food produce. Airponix offers a low-carbon way to grow food, using 95% less water and a fraction of the land.  The technology uses a unique fog system mimicking nature to deliver optimal water and nutrition through micro-water droplets containing nutrients. Airponix enables farmers to utilise this unique ecosystem at scale, extending the benefits to produce to a range of root vegetables and crops.

CO2  Monitoring underground storage for CO2 Leakage

Looking for CO2 reservoir leakage.

CO2 (CeeOhTwo)  is developing the ability to accurately monitor CO2 movement in the reservoir for Carbon Capture Underground Storage projects and assess the reservoir seal for any leakage. Data will be collected using 4D seismic in real time with either permanently placed geophones or using drone placed geophones. Such measuring and monitoring will be crucial for risk assessment and mitigation and is likely to be a requirement in the ability to raise finance for such projects.

Saving India’s Tigers  Saving wild tigers in Central India

Saving India’s Tigers is now the largest partnership of NGOs working on tiger conservation in Central India working in >400 villages with a variety of targeted conservation programmes. We are active against all the primary threats to tigers. Results in our focus area of the Satpuda Range have been positive to date with tiger numbers more than doubling.

The key to success will be continuing to finding solutions that align the interests of people with those of wildlife in the critical buffer zones and corridors surrounding the parks.
